Brand tipped it in before Paul Pierce missed a jumper in the final seconds that would have put Boston ahead. Ray Allen was unable to get off a good shot after the rebound...Kevin Garnett had 21 points and 10 rebounds, Kendrick Perkins scored 12 points to go with 16 boards, Ray Allen scored 17 and Rajon Rondo had 13 points and 10 assists.

Corey Brewer scored 20 points on 9 for 16 shooting, and the Wolves (5-22) were in front from start to finish for the first time this season, taking advantage of a sloppy, sluggish regression by the Kings, who fell to an NBA-worst 1-11 on the road...Casspi had 21 points and Beno Udrih had 12 of his 18 points in the final 4 minutes of the third quarter for the Kings, who were held under 100 points for only the third time in the last 15 games. Udrih beat the buzzer at the end of the third with a 3-point swish just in front of the half-court line, but that was about the only highlight for the visitors.

(By TOM WITHERS From the Associated Press) - LeBron James scored 26 points, Mo Williams added 17 and the Cleveland Cavaliers, despite playing poorly on offense down the stretch, hung on to beat the Milwaukee Bucks 85-82 on Friday night for their fifth straight win...Milwaukee rookie Brandon Jennings scored 18 points, but fired up an air ball on a 3-pointer with 4.5 seconds left that would have tied it. Jennings was just 5 of 21 from the field...It was another ragged performance by the Cavs, who have been beating some of the league’s lesser teams but will need to step up their game for the upcoming trip. James attempted just four field goals in a blase opening half for the Cavs, who were outworked by the Bucks at both ends of the floor and did little to excite their fans who were in a festive holiday mood.

David West scored 12 points for New Orleans, while Emeka Okafor had 12 rebounds and five blocks...J.R. Smith scored 25 points and Carmelo Anthony had 17 for Denver, which was without starting point guard Chauncey Billups because of a pulled left groin. Nene had 15 points and 10 rebounds and Ty Lawson scored 14, but the Nuggets finished 16 below their average for the season coming into the game...Trailing 58-51 early in the third quarter, New Orleans stormed into the lead with a 10-0 run ignited by Stojakovic’s back-to-back 3s and capped by Paul’s steal that set up his jumper from the top of the key. The shot began a torrid third quarter for Paul, who poured in 18 points in the period after scoring only four in the first half.

Danilo Gallinari and Wilson Chandler each finished with 14 points. Jonathan Bender scored nine points in his first action since Nov. 5, 2005...Kaman had 20 points and nine rebounds, and Baron Davis scored 19 points for the Clippers, who were looking for a third straight win but managed only 33 points in the second half...The Clippers had won four straight against the Knicks, a streak that figured to continue after they dominated the first half. But Lee turned around the game with 13 points in the third quarter and finished with 11 rebounds.

Mike Conley scored 19 points, including a career-high five 3-pointers, Rudy Gay added 18 points, and Marc Gasol had 17 points and 14 rebounds...Mike Dunleavy and T. J. Ford scored 16 points each for the Pacers. Dahntay Jones and Tyler Hansbrough added 14 apiece, and Earl Watson chipped in 10. Indiana was held to 41 percent shooting, including 3-of-21 from beyond the arc. Meanwhile, Memphis, near the bottom of the league in 3-point shooting, connected on 8 of 14 from long range...Indiana spotted Memphis an early 12-point lead but erased the Grizzlies’ advantage with an 18-5 run spanning the first and second quarters to take a 56-51 lead into halftime...Memphis was able to open the second half with 10 unanswered points and eventually extended the lead to 79-61, its largest of the night.

Rookie James Harden scored Oklahoma City’s first seven points of the fourth quarter to help the Thunder stretch their lead, and Nick Collison’s tip-in pushed the advantage to 86-77...Harden finished with 14 points and eight assists and Ibaka scored a career-high 12. Rodney Stuckey had a season-high 31 points to lead Detroit. The Pistons’ offense fell apart in crunch time without injured starters Richard Hamilton (ankle), Tayshaun Prince (back), and Ben Gordon (ankle). Detroit let the shot clock run out three times in a 3-minute span as Harden and Ibaka fueled Oklahoma City’s offense.

(From the Associated Press) - Kyle Lowry came off the bench for a career-high 26 points and 10 assists, and the Houston Rockets took advantage of the second-half absence of Dirk Nowitzki to beat the Mavericks 116-108 in overtime Friday night...J.J. Barea scored 23 points, and Josh Howard and Shawn Marion each had 17 points for the Mavericks, who rallied from a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit to send the game to overtime. Carl Landry of the Rockets was taken to an emergency room for treatment after breaking several teeth in a second-quarter collision near the basket with Nowitzki and missed the second half. Nowitzki drove into the lane and missed a short jumper with 9:28 left before halftime. He was fouled by Landry, who was hit in the mouth by Nowitzki’s elbow...Dallas’ Jason Kidd and Houston’s David Andersen were both assessed technical fouls after exchanging shoves with 6:53 left. Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle was also assessed a technical on the play, and Lowry connected on the free throw to cap an 8-0 run that gave the Rockets an 89-81 lead.

Stephen Curry added a season-high 27 points, Corey Maggette had 23 and Anthony Randolph 15...Arenas, who was 15 of 25 from the field, recorded his highest point total since scoring 54 against the Phoenix Suns on Dec. 22, 2006. Maggette scored more than 20 points in his fourth consecutive game. He’s shooting .659 (27 for 41) over that span...Jamison left the game with a stinger in his neck after a collision with Curry in the second quarter. Jamison, who scored over 30 points in each of his previous three games, returned to the court for a few minutes but remained in the locker room following halftime to receive treatment. He later came back late in the third quarter.
