vs(From the Associated Press) - Jameer Nelson scored six of his 21 points after regulation, Vince Carter also scored 21 and helped shut down Gerald Wallace, and the Magic beat the Bobcats 106-95 on Saturday night for their third straight victory...After Stephen Jackson’s layup with 1.2 seconds left in regulation completed Charlotte’s comeback from a 16-point third-quarter deficit, Nelson hit a jumper, two free throws and a runner in an 11-0 run to start OT. It put a quick end to Charlotte’s nine-game home winning streak. And while the rest of the NBA is 3-18 in Charlotte, the Magic are 2-0. D.J. Augustin scored 22 points for Charlotte, which starts a six-game West Coast trip on a two-game losing streak and back at .500 after its impressive start to the month...With Carter looking stronger as he recovers from a shoulder injury and with Dwight Howard grabbing 20 rebounds and blocking seven shots, don’t count out the Magic in the Eastern Conference just yet despite an ugly stretch of seven losses in nine games earlier this month.

vs(From the Associated Press) - Allen Iverson’s “team first” approach with the Philadelphia 76ers has earned him respect from his teammates and fans. Iverson, recently voted a starter for the Eastern Conference All-Star team despite starting the season with Memphis, had 17 points, five rebounds and three assists in the 76ers’ 107-97 victory over the Indiana Pacers on Saturday night. Philadelphia (15-28) has won both games since Iverson was voted an All-Star starter by the fans, a selection that has drawn criticism. The former NBA MVP and four-time scoring champion plans to play in his 11th straight All-Star game Feb. 14 at Cowboys Stadium...“He’s been great with us,” said Philadelphia forward Elton Brand, who scored 23 points. “You hear the rumors and stories over the years, and it’s great to see him in this light because he totally has a positive image to me.” Thaddeus Young had 22 points and 10 rebounds, and Lou Williams scored 14 points for the 76ers, who won consecutive games for just the fourth time this season...Danny Granger had 22 points, A.J. Price added 17 and Troy Murphy had 11 points and 12 rebounds for the Pacers (15-29), who have lost four of five after a three-game winning streak..“Our guys played exhausted and we got outplayed, no question about it,” Indiana coach Jim O’Brien said. “Our guys are exhausted and they should be. We just played a five-week schedule that is taxing.”...“This is one we could’ve and should’ve won,” said Pacers guard Brandon Rush, who had 14 points. “We couldn’t make shots when we needed.”

vs(From the Associated Press) - LeBron James had 37 points, 12 assists and nine rebounds and Daniel Gibson hit a 3-pointer with 8.7 seconds left to carry Cleveland to a 100-99 win against Oklahoma City on Saturday night. It was the Thunder’s second loss in two nights in the final seconds. Shaquille O’Neal had a season-high 22 points for Cleveland (34-11). Injuries to Mo Williams and Delonte West forced Gibson into a starting role for the first time since Dec. 23, 2007. But James ran the Cavs’ offense most of the night, scoring 13 points in the fourth quarter and sealing the win with a huge block on Kevin Durant with 0.9 seconds remaining...Durant had 34 points, and Russell Westbrook added 23 for Oklahoma City, which concluded its longest trip of the season by playing for the third time in four nights. The Thunder (24-20) lost to Memphis on Friday night when Rudy Gay hit a 20-foot jumper with 1.3 seconds remaining. Oklahoma City’s last four losses have come by a combined five points...Cleveland trailed by a point when James grabbed a rebound and drove the length of the floor. When the defense collapsed on him, he fired to a wide open Gibson, even though Gibson had struggled most of the night. He finished with 13 points. He failed to record an assist and missed open looks early, but James still had faith in Gibson, who routinely hit big shots as a rookie during the Cavaliers’ march to the NBA finals three years ago. Gibson’s 3-pointer put the Cavaliers up 98-96 with 8.7 seconds remaining.

vs(From the Associated Press) - Dwyane Wade had 27 points and eight assists before sitting out the fourth quarter, Michael Beasley added 21 points and 13 rebounds and a bizarre week of blowouts for the Heat continued with a 115-84 victory over the freefalling Sacramento Kings on Saturday night. Udonis Haslem scored 14 points, and Jermaine O’Neal added 12 for the Heat, who beat Indiana by 30 on Tuesday night, lost to Charlotte by 39 on Wednesday night and won in Washington by 24 on Friday night. Only one of Miami’s last nine games has been decided by less than 10 points...Tyreke Evans had 15 points for the Kings, who finished an 0-6 trip, have lost 12 of their last 13 overall and haven’t won away from home since that stunning erasure of a 35-point deficit to prevail in Chicago on Dec. 21. Spencer Hawes finished with 14 points, and Omri Casspi had 13 for Sacramento, which only got five for the second straight night from Kevin Martin—a 21.5 point-per-game scorer. “Kevin was very frustrated,” Kings coach Paul Westphal said. “He hasn’t found his rhythm. We know Kevin Martin is a big-time scorer in this league and an energy player, but he didn’t look like he was able to show that kind of game.”...“It’s just another bad night,” Martin said. “That’s all I’ll chalk it up to. Loss of words right now.”

vs(From the Associated Press) - Another missing regular and a short bench didn’t faze Martell Webster and the Portland Trail Blazers. Webster scored a career-high 28 points to help the short-handed Trail Blazers beat the Detroit Pistons 97-93 on Saturday night. LaMarcus Aldridge added 21 points, and Andre Miller added 11 points and 13 assists as Portland—using jusr eight players—earned a split of a four-game trip after learning they wouldn’t have guard Jerryd Bayless in the rotation...Richard Hamilton’s 3-pointer with 1:27 to play gave Detroit a 93-92 lead, but the Pistons never scored again. Miller made a pair of free throws a minute later to give the Blazers the lead for good...Webster played all 48 minutes, and Steve Blake added 11 points and 10 assists in more than 40 minutes on the court. Hamilton had 25 points and nine assists, Rodney Stuckey added 20 points and Charlie Villanueva had 17 for the Pistons, who lost their second straight and dropped the season series to the Blazers. The game was similar to Friday’s loss to visiting Indiana, which saw Detroit get off to a lethargic start before rallying late. “I don’t know what it is,” Villanueva said. “I can’t really put my finger on it but we showed a lot of fight in that second half, which is encouraging. “If we play like that a whole game, I am telling you we are tough to beat.”

vs(From the Associated Press) - Brad Miller found out he was starting Saturday night in Houston less than 10 minutes before tipoff, then made the most of the opportunity. Carl Landry scored 22 points, and Luis Scola and Aaron Brooks added 20 points apiece for the Rockets...The 7-foot Miller sank two 3-pointers, went 5 for 5 from the free-throw line and grabbed a key offensive rebound in the final minute. He played three seasons in Sacramento for Houston coach Rick Adelman and said his familiarity with the Rockets’ system helped him have a big game...Derrick Rose scored 20 points, and Kirk Hinrich added 12 points and seven assists for the Bulls, who’ve won six of their last eight games.

vs(From the Associated Press) - The Milwaukee Bucks’ big lead over the Minnesota Timberwolves might have cost Carlos Delfino a triple-double. Delfino had 24 points, eight rebounds and eight assists in Milwaukee’s 127-94 victory over the Timberwolves on Saturday night. Coach Scott Skiles removed him from the game with 7:04 left and the Bucks leading, 108-81. “He probably would have gotten a triple-double if it was a close game,” teammate Andrew Bogut said. “Coach kind of iced him a little bit by taking him out.”...Minnesota has lost seven of eight and 12 of 14. The Wolves dropped a 96-94 decision Friday night to New Orleans on James Posey’s game-winning layup as time expired...Milwaukee rookie Brandon Jennings had 18 points and a career-high 13 assists with only one turnover. Jerry Stackhouse scored 14 points in 28 minutes off the bench in his third game for Milwaukee since signing as a free agent Monday. Kevin Love had 17 points and 12 rebounds for the Wolves. Al Jefferson, Minnesota’s leading scorer at 18.6 points per game, was held to nine points on four of 11 shooting. “They jumped out on us and killed our confidence,” Jefferson said.

vs(From the Associated Press) - The Jazz avoided any letdowns Saturday night against the bumbling New Jersey Nets, pulling away early in a 116-83 victory. “We came out from the start of the game and acted like we wanted to win,” said Deron Williams, who had eight assists before he and the other Jazz starters spent the fourth quarter resting and watching from the bench...New Jersey fell to 1-23 on the road and 3-40 overall. Paul Millsap scored 20 points, and Andrei Kirilenko had 11 points and two blocks for the Jazz.

vs(From the Associated Press) - Goran Dragic and the rest of the Phoenix reserves prevented an ugly home loss for the Suns. Dragic scored 18 of his career-high 20 points in the fourth quarter and the Suns finally pulled away from the depleted Golden State Warriors, winning 112-103 on Saturday night. “He made some big shots. He had that look in his eye,” Suns star Steve Nash said. “He was really aggressive. It was fun to see him step up and make some big shots and key plays.” Dragic, a second-year guard from Slovenia, was 4 of 6 from the field, including 3 of 5 on 3-pointers, and made 7 of 8 free throws in the quarter. He also had two steals and a crucial blocked shot in the period...Nash scored 23 points for the Suns in their 10th consecutive victory over Golden State in Phoenix. The Suns had lost five of their previous six, with the lone win over New Jersey...Anthony Tolliver had career bests of 19 points and 11 rebounds for the Warriors, playing without Monta Ellis (26.1 points per game). Ellis sprained his right ankle Friday night in Golden State’s home victory over New Jersey. Corey Maggette led the Warriors with 27 points, and rookie Stephen Curry added 25 on the heels of his career-best 32 against the Nets. “I have no complaints about what we did,” Warriors coach Don Nelson said. “Give them the credit. Their bench came in and played well. They were a huge factor.” Robin Lopez scored 16 points for Phoenix, while Grant Hill and Amare Stoudemire added 15 apiece.

vs(From the Associated Press) - No last-second magic for the New Orleans Hornets on Saturday night. Arron Afflalo made sure of that. Afflalo had a season-high 19 points and hit two 3-pointers in overtime to help the Denver Nuggets beat the Hornets 116-110. Carmelo Anthony had 30 points and 11 rebounds, and Kenyon Martin added 20 points and 14 rebounds for the Nuggets in their season-high sixth straight victory. Chauncey Billups had 20 points and nine assists as all five Denver starters scored in double figures. Chris Paul had 26 points, seven in overtime, and 10 assists for the Hornets. Darius Songaila added a season-high 20 starting in place of the injured David West. The loss comes after the Hornets won two straight games on buzzer-beating layups by James Posey. Saturday, the hero was Afflalo, who rebounded from a poor outing against the Hornets on Dec. 18. Afflalo was 2 for 9 and missed all six of his 3-pointers in that 98-92 loss...“Arron hit some huge shots tonight,” Billups said. “I just told him just stay focused, you’re the one who’s going to get the looks. They’re not going to sink off me and give me a look, and Melo, you saw how they played him.” The Nuggets had a chance to win the game before overtime. They led 101-99 with 24 seconds left, but Paul hit a shot to tie it with 18 seconds left. “We had our chances in regulation,” Hornets coach Jeff Bower said. “It was going to be hard for us to win the game in overtime.”...“The attention of our team, our effort and our concentration is outstanding,” Bower said. “I thought we played every possession and tried to do what we wanted to do on every possession. It didn’t always work, but we gave ourselves a chance to win.”
