Camby to Blazers, Coach Karl Has Cancer

According to a league source, the Knicks and their Atlantic Division rival are working on a deal that would send Robinson, the back-up guard and three-time Slam Dunk champion, to Boston. Since Robinson is entering the last year of his contract the Knicks will only take back expiring contracts. The Cleveland Cavaliers have made significant progress in trade discussions with the Washington Wizards, offering Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Jamario Moon and a No. 1 draft pick for Antawn Jamison and Mike James, sources told Yahoo! Sports. Some league sources believe this is a deal that is preferable to some members of the Cavaliers’ management and coaching staffs over Amar’e Stoudemire, but Cleveland still hasn’t made a decision on which trade to ultimately make. Other trade proposals that intrigue the Cavs are still emerging on the landscape, but the focus now is on Jamison or Stoudemire. - Yahoo! Sports

The Spurs have been searching for expiring deals to move McDyess, who will make $4.9 million next season and is guaranteed about $2.6 million in 2011-12. Trading McDyess would free minutes and give them greater flexibility to re-sign Thomas this summer if they want. Thomas would give the Spurs a younger, more athletic complement to Tim Duncan, and could be part of a future frontline with former first-round pick Tiago Splitter and rookie DeJuan Blair. - Yahoo! Sports

He ran through the rookie wall and swatted away the so-called sophomore jinx. Kevin Durant’s next test is hurdling the post-All-Star hangover. Durant admits he isn’t sure how his hectic weekend will affect him. "It was draining, but that’s the life you want, the life of an NBA All-Star,” Durant said. "It’s different. You have a lot of obligations you have to take care of, a lot of things you have to do for sponsors, endorsements, things like that. Hopefully I come back strong.” - The Oklahoman

Chris Bosh will get on a plane with the rest of the Raptors Thursday afternoon and head to the New York area for a game in New Jersey. The flight will coincide with the NBA's 3 p.m. trade deadline, and if Bosh gets to his hotel and his 13 teammates are the same as the ones he left with, he'll be fine with that. "I'd be happy if we didn't make a trade. I think we're playing well and the different guys we have at each position are doing well, so I don't know if we need one," Bosh said after his sparkling performance in Sunday's NBA All-Star Game. - Toronto Star

When it comes to possibly getting traded, Al Harrington insists he appreciates the interest. The Knicks forward is in the middle of trade rumors again, this time with the Rockets in a deal for Tracy McGrady. Harrington insisted yesterday he isn't bothered by the buzz. "I shrug it off," he said. "I always look at it like, when people want you, that's a good thing." - New York Post

It is not clear whether the Cavaliers' second-choice is Jamison or Maggette. The discussions with Golden State have centered around Cleveland sending Ilgauskas and his $11.5 million expiring contract to the Warriors for Maggette. Other players, perhaps Cleveland's Danny Green and Golden State's Devean George, would have to be added to make the deal work financially. - ESPN

As Thursday's NBA trading deadline approaches, the likelihood of the 76ers' trading swingman Andre Iguodala has lessened. Another source close to negotiations said that "unless they change their position," the Sixers would not be trading Iguodala and are absolutely not looking to shed salary. - Philadelphia Inquirer

The Knicks and Rockets were closing in on a blockbuster deal yesterday that not only would bring Tracy McGrady to New York -- but more important, could open up $9.5 million of additional cap space that would give the Knicks a chance to sign two All-Star free agents to maximum contracts this summer. Apparently, the Miami Heat isn't as flexible with Michael Beasley as it once seemed. No, we're not talking about trade bait. It's all about Brace-Gate, as in knee brace. After declaring he was done with his knee problem and the accompanying brace on Friday, Beasley not only was back in the brace by halftime of that night's Rookie-Sophomore game, he was also in it for Monday's practice. Beasley wants no part of the brace and feels that it is slowing him down at this point. The Heat believes he needs to protect his hyperextended knee for at least a few more games. - The Miami Herald

New Maverick Caron Butler, who has averaged 16.9 points a game in his eighth NBA season, is expected to move into the starting lineup. Jason Terry, who last year got the NBA sixth man award as the league's top reserve, is expected to move back into that role after starting the past 11 games. Terry said he could accept going back to the bench, and Butler said that "meant a lot." - Dallas Morning News

If the Knicks lose out on LeBron James, their consolation prize could be Atlanta's Joe Johnson. And that would be just fine with Johnson, who says he would surely make a free-agent visit to the Knicks because of his great relationship with Mike D'Antoni, who coached him in Phoenix. - New York Post

Michael Jordan has been called the NBA's greatest player, a supreme competitor and top pitchman. Jordan soon could have a much different role: team owner. Charlotte coach Larry Brown said Monday night that Jordan has told him he's doing all he can to buy majority control of the Bobcats from owner Bob Johnson. ``He said he's doing his best to put himself in a position to get the team,'' Brown said after practice. ``He wants it badly.'' - AP

Mark Bartelstein, the agent for Spurs guard Roger Mason Jr., has clarified comments about Mason's desire to be traded to a team that could offer more playing time. "It's not a trade demand," Bartelstein told the Express-News on Monday night. A source close to the process told ESPN.com that the Wolves recently said no to a potential Luol Deng and Tyrus Thomas for Jefferson deal, telling the Bulls that they aren't going to move Jefferson by the trade deadline, which is consistent with what Wolves GM David Kahn has been saying for weeks. However, a Deng-and-Thomas deal was the most realistic trade scenario we've heard for Jefferson. - ESPN

Contrary to myth, Bryant says his mind isn't empty at such moments. The zone is not a quiet place. He hears the same chatter everyone else hears, but he doesn't react. He doesn't fear. "If you make it, great. If you miss it—what's there to be afraid of?" Failure? "If you're afraid to fail, then you're probably going to fail," he says, laughing. "You know what I mean? Fuck it." - GQ

Pau Gasol is not the greatest player on the Lakers, but the Spainard is the best in Europe. For a second year in a row, Gasol was named European player of the year for 2009, FIBA announced. The award is just one in a growing list of recent honors for the 7-foot center. In 2008, Gasol led Spain to an Olympic silver medal. He then won an NBA championship with the Lakers and followed that by helping Spain win its first European championship gold medal in Poland in September. - Orange County Register
