If a lockout happens in 2011, LeBron & Co. will be out of work, just like the rank-and-file players. And according to sources familiar with the negotiations, maximum contracts will be under heavy attack. Worse, the owners want existing contracts to be slashed rather than grandfathered untouched into the new agreement. Locking in long-term deals this summer could be for naught. For their part, James, Wade and Carmelo Anthony all showed up to the bargaining table as the two sides met over All-Star weekend last month. Could a further show of solidarity tip the balance of power? Is Europe the players’ trump card? - HOOPSWORLD

Rodney Stuckey underwent a completely negative cardiac evaluation under the direction of University of Michigan's (Fred Morady, M.D.), Cleveland Clinic's (Thomas Dresing, M.D.) and the Detroit Medical Center's (Luis Alfonso, M.D.). The combined opinion is that Rodney may return to a progressive exercise program. - NBA

The Magic actually will have interest in signing (Steve) Blake this summer as they search for another point guard to play behind starter Jameer Nelson. The Magic have used both journeymen Jason Williams and Anthony Johnson in the role this season, but both are in the final year of their contracts and already slowing down. Blake, 30, has shown an ability to play effectively as either a starter or reserve in his career. - FanHouse

The starters eventually returned to blow open and finish the game, but the second unit had rescued it, bringing reminders of many similar nights before the injuries depleted the Rockets’ rotation and sent them sinking back to .500. "It makes us," Shane Battier said, "an entirely different team." - Houston Chronicle

Kevin Durant is surprised people like Magic Johnson, who recently interviewed him, is shocked he’s comfortable with small-market Oklahoma City instead of playing in New York, Los Angeles or Chicago. "I was watching the Larry Bird-Magic Johnson documentary the other day,” Durant said. "I’m similar to Bird. I like being at home. I like staying at my mom’s house and her cooking. That’s the kind of person I am. I’m not into the big city lights and the paparazzi, that type of stuff. I just love playing basketball and chillin’ out.” - The Oklahoman

Even the leading Rookie of the Year candidate makes rookie mistakes. And while the Kings' Tyreke Evans doesn't typically apologize for every slip-up on the floor, he offered a mea culpa Tuesday for an off-floor flub. Evans, who made comments critical of teammate Andres Nocioni to The Bee after Sunday's loss to Oklahoma City, apologized in a Tuesday afternoon radio interview with KHTK's Grant Napear and Mike Lamb and reiterated his stance at the Rose Garden later. - Sacramento Bee

Ronnie Brewer is experiencing very little pain these days, unless you count the agony of sitting out while the Grizzlies try to earn a playoff spot. The 6-7 swingman, acquired Feb. 18 in a trade with Utah, is recovering nicely from a partially torn right hamstring and could return to action early next week. - Memphis Commercial Appeal

Around 11 p.m. Monday, Iverson's Twitter account released this statement: "To my fans: You all know that my life isn't perfect. I am going through some very tough times right now, like I am sure that we all do from time to time. However, I will stand tall like always with 'rhino' thick skin. Even though I have become used to hearing people say things about me that aren't true, it still hurts. I encourage you to continue your ongoing support and I want you to trust that this is another obstacle in my life that, with God's help I will overcome. God Bless You All." - Philadelphia Inquirer

After Tuesday's practice, Amar'e Stoudemire said he'd love to stay in Phoenix if the Suns meet his number. No hard feelings or hometown discounts, just good business moving forward. It's shaping up as a decision with major consequences, and the Suns must wonder: What's real? What's temporary? And once Stoudemire gets his money, how long until his knees scream for a doctor? - Arizona Republic

Peter Luukko, chief operating officer and president of the company, denied that a decision has been made. - Philadelphia Daily News
