Stuckey Now Stable After Collapsing During the Game, K-Mart To Have Surgery?

Detroit Pistons guard Rodney Stuckey was taken to the Cleveland Clinic Friday night after going into medical distress on the bench during the third quarter of the game against the Cavaliers. - Cleveland Plain-Dealer

Mavericks guard Jason Terry underwent surgery today to repair facial injuries sustained during Wednesday night's game vs. Minnesota. The surgery was performed by Dr. Neil Williams in Dallas. He is expected to make a full recovery and return to basketball activities in 10-14 days. - NBA

What forward Amar'e Stoudemire has done lately is not going to change the status of a possible contract extension with the Suns anytime soon. Stoudemire said he wants to shelve contract-extension talks until after the season, when he also will have to make a decision about opting out of the final year of the deal, which would pay him $17.7 million. In trying to find a solution to his team's defensive problems, New Orleans Hornets Coach Jeff Bower said Thursday they must get more help on the ball before guards penetrate into the lane. The Hornets are repeatedly getting beat off dribble drives in the lane for layups, dunks and putbacks. In five of their six losses, the Hornets have allowed 50.5 percent shooting from the field with opponents averaging 107.6 points. - New Orleans Times-Picayune

The Oklahoma City Thunder have assigned second-year forward D.J. White to their NBA Developmental League affiliate in Tulsa. White has appeared in eight games for Oklahoma City this season but has not played since having surgery in January to repair a broken right thumb. - Associated Press

But Denver head coach George Karl, never enamored with Balkman's practice habits, hasn't used him much this season when he is healthy. Milwaukee Bucks coach Scott Skiles spoke to Brandon Jennings about the slumping rookie guard's recent lament that he doesn't "even know if I want to shoot the ball." "We're not fond of that kind of statement," Skiles said before the Bucks played at the Washington Wizards on Friday night. "He's too important to our team and our franchise to have any sort of defeatist-type mind-set right now. And he doesn't, really." - ESPN

Mike Woodson said he hopes to hear from the NBA regarding the technical foul assessed him in the Feb. 26 loss to Dallas by Monday. Woodson was given a technical when Dallas guard Jason Kidd dribbled into him, which was a key moment in the Hawks' loss, though it appeared Woodson had gotten off the court when the contact occurred.
