Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) commissioner Sonny Barrios on Tuesday postponed action on the appeal lodged by Air 21 veteran guard Wynne Arboleda about his suspension.
In a statement circulated to media, Barrios said he met with Arboleda at the PBA office in Libis, Quezon City Monday to discuss his case but the commissioner maintained that his office will “still have to review and study the merits of the appeal, as well as get an update on the legal cases.”
Barrios, however, did not set any date for the announcement of his decision.
It can be recalled that Arboleda filed an appeal with the Commissioner’s Office on March 25 along with a letter of support signed by the 10 PBA team captains.
“The Commissioner’s Office likewise asked for documentation and validation of the community service Arboleda claimed he has participated in since he was suspended in October 2009 due to an unfortunate incident involving a fan,” the PBA said.
The former Manuel L. Quezon University hotshot was suspended for the rest of the 2009-2010 season after mauling a heckling fan in a front row seat at the Araneta Coliseum during the second quarter of the Burger King-Smart Gilas game in October 16 last year.
