Tenorio Brings Showtime To Alaska, Earns POW Honors

(From GMA News)

Alaska Milk has found its new “Showtime in LA."

LA Tenorio, Alaska’s cerebral guard, stole the show in the week just passed to earn the nod of the scribes covering the Philippine Basketball Association Fiesta Cup.

Tenorio was named by the PBA Press Corps as the Player of the Week for the period of May 24 to 30.

In the game between Alaska and B-Meg Derby Ace, Tenorio played the hero's role with a triple in the closing seconds of the overtime period as the Aces edged the Llamados, 99-97, last Friday.

Rain or Shine’s Jireh Ibanes, Coca-Cola’s Gary David and Talk N Text’s Kelly Williams also came up with big games, but it was the smallest man among the candidates who delivered big time.

It was the second win by the Aces over the Llamados this conference.

Alaska also defeated B-Meg Derby Ace, 83-81, last April 17 when the Aces still have Willie Miller on their fold.

Without Miller, Tenorio became the new take-charge-guy for Alaska, which improved to a 7-5 win-loss record.

“LA is a fighter and as typical of him he fought through a lot of adversity to will us to a win," said Cone of his playmaker, who also had two steals.

“I’m pleased that our team is beginning to take on his personality."
