Randolph to Cavs? Robinson's Agent Forcing a Trade?

McHale said the decision to trade Garnett came from owner Glen Taylor. “It’s always hard when you make a change and decide to trade a guy like Kevin Garnett,’’ McHale said. “It was a management decision and a lot of people were involved with it and basically the owner said, ‘We’re going to make a change.’ You say OK and go about doing it.’ - Boston Globe

"I love Denver, and I want to be in Denver," Karl told me recently. "If a contract doesn't get done, it kind of makes me sad that I probably will have to be a businessman. Being a businessman means I'm a free agent, and I'm going to coach a good team to probably a lot of success. I prefer not to be a businessman. I'm not a very good businessman." - Denver Post

McHale blends well with Chris Webber and Ernie Johnson in studio on Tuesday nights, and also did color commentary in Miami’s victory Thursday over Orlando. The transition has gone smoothly, but he misses life in the NBA. McHale didn’t get to finish the job in Minnesota - and clean up some of his own messes - but there is no bitterness. - Boston Globe

Tolliver could have been making considerably more money if he taken that offer to play in China, or returned to the Turkish Basketball League, where he played for a part of last season. Instead he went to Boise, Idaho to play with the D-League's Idaho Stampede. "If I had gone overseas to play, no way would I be here today,'' said Tolliver in the Blazers locker room before he dressed for the game against the Magic. - FanHouse

More importantly for the Suns, who are ranked 29th in the league in rebounding, is the job he’s been doing on the glass. “Amar’e has done a good job on the boards the last 12 games,” Gentry said. “He’s much improved in the rebounding department.” He attributes his commitment to rebounding to “dedication” and “timing.” STAT also credits it to just getting back into game-shape. - NBA.com

One thing that is sure, says a source, is the Cavs' interest in giving it a try. This week rumors emerged that the Warriors would be willing to trade Randolph and the Cavs have announced their interest. Cavs coach Mike Brown fell in love with Randolph before his rookie season after draft workouts and seeing him at summer league. - Cleveland.com

The downside to Murphy is that he's not a good defender. But he would fit well on the floor with Anderson Varejao or Shaquille O'Neal because of his ability to hit the outside jumper. Plus he's an excellent pick-and-pop player, which makes him a good match to play with James and Mo Williams in halfcourt situations. - Cleveland.com

The Cavs have made trade proposals in the past for Jamison and will do so again. If Jamison is ever traded, expect the Cavs to push hard to be the team. He fits in nearly perfectly with the type of player the Cavs want both on the floor and off. Like Murphy, he's not a great defender. But unlike Murphy, Jamison can create his own shot offensively. - Cleveland.com

He greeted his former Jazz teammates at Saturday's game, which also was Knight's fifth as a radio analyst for the Bobcats. Knight, who played for nine teams in 12 seasons, makes his home in Charlotte. "This is making not playing go a little smoother for me," said Knight, who went to broadcasting camp last summer at Syracuse, adding of his future calling games, "I know this is what I want to do." - Salt Lake Tribune

Strange, indeed. The referees were convinced Dampier threw an elbow and went to the videotape to review the play, but did so before they had decided Aaron Brooks was responsible for a flagrant foul-penalty 1 against Dampier. Flagrant foul-penalty 2 infractions can be reviewed, but not penalty 1 flagrants. - Deseret News

"The 4 and the 5 (Boris Diaw and Tyson Chandler) got eight rebounds," Wallace detailed. "Individually, we're not taking pride in defensive assignments. We're not taking pride in helping teammates.Too many times we're saying, 'This is bad. Just move on to the next game.'" - Charlotte Observer

X-rays taken at the arena showed a partial fracture, and the initial diagnosis does not appear to indicate a need for surgery to repair the bone. Bonner will be re-examined on Monday before a final timetable for his return is announced, but he is certain to miss a significant number of games. He is optimistic his hiatus will last no more than a month. - My SA Spurs

Multiple team sources claim that D'Antoni was against re-signing Robinson, who was a restricted free agent, and the coach's actions over the past two weeks seem to confirm the notion. Goodwin spoke with team president Donnie Walsh on Friday, a day after Robinson sat for a seventh straight game in the Knicks' 98-89 loss to the Bulls. In that game, D'Antoni's squad blew a 17-point lead and received little production from its bench. - NY Daily News

Signing Pau Gasol and Kobe Bryant to three-year contract extensions apparently won't make Phil Jackson's decision whether to continue coaching the defending NBA champion Lakers any easier. At 31, with 13 seasons, four championships, and more than 35,000 NBA minutes in the rear-view mirror, Bryant said he can't quite see the end of the tunnel. "I can see the light, though," Bryant said Friday after practice in New York, in the midst of the Lakers' first significant road trip of their championship defense. Telfair was reminded that the guy playing in front of him (Davis) has a history of breaking down and missing lots of games. But one day after coming back from a three-game rest with a sore left knee, this wasn’t what he had in mind: With 4:47 left to play Saturday night, the Nets’ wing drove on the Lakers’ Shannon Brown and rolled his right ankle – severely – and went down in a heap. After being helped off, X-rays taken on Douglas-Roberts' ankle were negative, and the injury was diagnosed as a sprain. - NJ.com

Chuck Hayes had a career-high 15 rebounds, but in many ways, that was not the most remarkable part of his play.
