His godfather finally contacted Dalembert’s relatives...The Philadelphia 76ers center finds 48 minutes of distraction each night on the court. Dalembert made a $100,000 donation to help relief efforts, then had 17 points and 12 rebounds to lift the Sixers to a 98-86 win over the Sacramento Kings on Friday night...Thaddeus Young scored 20 points for the Sixers and Allen Iverson had 17. The Sixers hit a pair of 3-pointers during a 10-0 run in the fourth quarter that turned a tight game into a comfortable victory in front of one of their largest crowds of the season...Jason Thompson had 19 points and 16 rebounds for the Kings. Kevin Martin scored 19 points in his first game after missing the past 32 with a wrist injury. Martin was injured Nov. 2 when he collided with Iverson, then with Memphis...Elton Brand—who was benched for entire fourth quarters a month ago— scored 14 points for the Sixers and continued to find success in his role as an $80 million reserve. Dalembert and Brand combined to make their first 10 shots from the floor, the kind of production the Sixers envisioned they’d see more out of the frontcourt.

vs(By MIKE CRANSTON From the Associated Press) - The Bobcats had just beaten the San Antonio Spurs 92-76 on Friday night for their franchise record sixth-straight home win. But all they could think about was how good they could be if Diaw permanently ended his season-long funk and played like he did against the Spurs—26 points and 11 rebounds—every night...Wallace added 21 points and collected five acrobatic blocks and four steals as the Bobcats took control with a dominant defensive stand that bridged the third and fourth quarters. The Spurs went more than 9 minutes without a field goal, and the Bobcats’ 19-2 run put them ahead 70-57 and secured their sixth win in seven games...The combination was too much for the Spurs, who saw their three-game winning streak snapped with Tim Duncan struggling in his return after the veteran was given a game off to rest. Duncan hit just 4 of 12 shots and had 10 points and nine rebounds...DeJuan Blair added 11 points and 16 rebounds, one game after he had 28 points and 21 rebounds in a win over Oklahoma City. It wasn’t enough for the Spurs, who had been 10-1 all-time against the Bobcats, including 5-0 on the road...Jackson added 16 points and reserve Flip Murray 11.

vs(By RICK GANO From the Associated Press) - Derrick Rose drove and spun around before getting off the shot that would send the Chicago Bulls to a double-overtime victory and deny the inspired Washington Wizards. “I’ve been doing that move since college,” Rose said after his basket with 5.4 seconds left capped his career-best 37-point effort and gave Chicago a 121-119 win Friday night...Antawn Jamison had a season-high 34 points and 18 rebounds, Caron Butler added 27 points, Randy Foye had 22 and Brendan Haywood grabbed a career-best 20 rebounds and scored 16...Kirk Hinrich scored 19 points and Joakim Noah had 17 points and 15 rebounds for the Bulls. “They have gone through some difficult things in the last couple of weeks,” Chicago coach Vinny Del Negro said of the Wizards. “Fortunately we made one more play than they did. It could have gone either way.”

vs(By TOM CANAVAN From the Associated Press) - Danny Granger scored 22 of his 28 points in a 72-point first-half blitz and the Pacers posted their third straight win with a 121-105 victory over the woeful New Jersey Nets on Friday night...Troy Murphy added 21 points and 14 rebounds, Brandon Rush had 15 points and Mike Dunleavy 14 for the Pacers, whose 16-point victory margin matched its biggest of the season...Devin Harris had 22 points and nine assists for the Nets, who more and more look like they will challenge Philadelphia’s NBA record low of nine wins in the 1972-73 season. Brook Lopez added 27 points, while Yi Jianlian had 17 points and 10 rebounds. Recently acquired Kris Humphries added 15 points...“We can get up and down, shoot 3s, score in the paint,” said center Roy Hibbert, who added 12 points. “Once we learn to play together and practice more, we can be a dangerous team in the East.” New Jersey was just 2 of 11 from the field with three turnovers in the drought that turned a close game into yet another big loss.

vs(By PAUL NEWBERRY From the Associated Press) - Jamal Crawford hit a long 3-pointer at the buzzer to cap an Atlanta comeback in the final seconds, giving the Hawks a 102-101 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Friday night...The home team trailed 100-96 after Steve Nash hit two free throws with 10 seconds left. But Atlanta squeezed two more possessions out of the clock, and Phoenix missed a couple of chances to put the Hawks away...Al Horford led the Hawks with 24 points, while Smith had a big game with 20 points and 15 rebounds. But it was Crawford, Atlanta’s indispensable new sixth man, who provided the biggest shot of all to finish with 21 points and give the Hawks a chance to reclaim first in the Southeast Division...Stoudemire scored 19 of his 28 points in the second half and pulled down 14 rebounds. Grant Hill added 21 points.

vs(From the Associated Press) - Even though they were reduced to playing 6-foot-10 rookie Jonas Jerebko at point guard and 6-foot-11 Austin Daye at shooting guard, the Pistons beat the New Orleans Hornets 110-104 in overtime...Detroit, which was also missing Tayshaun Prince (knee) and Ben Gordon (groin), was carried by two veterans. Richard Hamilton finished with 32 points and 10 assists, both season highs, while Ben Wallace had season bests of 21 rebounds and 13 points...Paul had 24 points and 14 assists for the Hornets before fouling out and David West scored 25 points, but New Orleans couldn’t overcome a 46-34 rebounding deficit. New Orleans finished with just two offensive rebounds, three fewer than Wallace had by himself...Stuckey’s back-to-back three-point plays gave the Pistons a 106-101 lead, and Detroit still had a 107-104 advantage after Wallace made one of two free throws with 48.6 seconds to go. “I had two turnovers in overtime and one of Stuckey’s and-ones was because I fell asleep,” Paul said. “I take responsibility for that.”

With the game featuring three Italian players being televised live in his home country at 2 a.m., Bargnani hurt the Knicks inside and out, making five 3-pointers and shooting 9 of 13 from the field...Jose Calderon matched a season high with 21 points, rookie DeMar DeRozan scored 19 and Bosh had 18 for the Raptors, who bounced back from consecutive losses and got back to .500 at 20-20...Al Harrington scored 31 points, Danilo Gallinari had 26 and David Lee finished with 25 points, 14 rebounds and nine assists for the Knicks...With Bargnani and Marco Belinelli playing for the Raptors and Gallinari for New York, the game was a big event in Italy, home of the 2004 Olympic basketball silver medalists. D’Antoni was a star player and championship-winning coach in Italy. “I’m just really happy to see a lot of Italian players playing in the league and I think there will be more,” D’Antoni said before the game. “It’s fun and obviously it conjures a lot of great memories that I had.”


vs(From the Associated Press) - The Minnesota Timberwolves post-game comments were as minimal as their second-half effort against the Memphis Grizzlies. “I don’t know what you could possibly ask me after that,” Minnesota center Al Jefferson said following a 135-110 loss to the Grizzlies on Friday night. Rudy Gay scored 21 points, and Zach Randolph and O.J. Mayo added 20 apiece as the Grizzlies won their seventh straight home game. Mike Conley had 18 points and eight assists, and Sam Young scored 17. Marc Gasol finished with 12 points for Memphis, which has won 10 of 13...Corey Brewer led the Timberwolves with 22 points, while Jefferson scored 21, all in the first half. Wayne Ellington had 17 points, and Kevin Love finished with 14 points and nine rebounds in Minnesota’s fourth straight loss...“(Rambis) had some choice words for us,” Love said of the team’s postgame talk. “It was nothing we wanted to hear, but we knew it was coming.” While the Timberwolves were miffed, the Grizzlies were delighted with the performance, particularly building a large enough lead that the starters got to rest in the fourth. “It was real fun,” Randolph said. “Young guys got a chance to play and get experience. Rudy caught fire. O.J. caught fire, so it was a fun game.”

vs(By DAVID JIMENEZ From the Associated Press) - Dirk Nowitzki(notes) scored 32 points and Dallas bounced back from a sluggish first half to beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 99-98 on Friday night...Dallas snapped a two-game home losing streak that had Carlisle questioning his team’s defense. The Utah Jazz shot 53 percent and the Los Angeles Lakers hit 49 percent in wins over the Mavericks...Jason Terry scored 21 points, and Josh Howard and Jason Kidd each chipped in with 11 for the Mavericks, who have beaten the Thunder franchise—formerly the Seattle SuperSonics—nine straight times in Dallas since 2004...Kevin Durant, who only had 12 points when the teams met in December, scored 30 on 6 of 18 shooting and grabbed a season-high 13 rebounds for the Thunder. Russell Westbrook added 18 points and six assists...Oklahoma City has lost two straight games by one point. San Antonio beat the Thunder 109-108 in overtime on Wednesday night. “You play well against really good teams, but they’re still losses,” said Oklahoma City center Nick Collison, who had 10 points and 10 rebounds. “You see how much of a fine line it is between winning and losing.”

vs(By CHRIS DUNCAN From the Associated Press) - Wade scored 37 points, his second straight big game since suffering the injury, and the Miami Heat beat the Houston Rockets 115-106 on Friday night. Wade hurt his right wrist in Monday’s loss at Utah, then scored 35 points on 10-for-15 shooting in Miami’s 115-102 win over Golden State on Wednesday. He hit 15 of 24 shots and had eight assists in Houston to lead the Heat to their fourth win in 10 games...Rafer Alston had 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting against his former team and Jermaine O’Neal added 16 points and 13 rebounds for the Heat, who snapped Houston’s eight-game home winning streak...Luis Scola and rookie Chase Budinger scored 17 points apiece for the Rockets, who looked sluggish after a triple-overtime win over Minnesota on Wednesday. Aaron Brooks, who scored a career-high 43 points against the Timberwolves, went 1 for 6 from 3-point range and scored 14 on Friday night...“We stuck with it,” Wade said. “We did what we’ve been talking about— defensively, making it hard on them and offensively, moving the ball. That’s the way we win ballgames.”

vs(By GREG BEACHAM From the Associated Press) - Kobe Bryant scored 30 points, Pau Gasol returned from a six-game injury absence with 20 points and six rebounds, and the Lakers re-established their dominance in Los Angeles with a 126-86 victory over the Clippers on Friday night...After Fisher and Gasol trapped Davis in a corner near the Lakers’ bench, Fisher swiped aggressively at the ball. Davis responded with a swinging elbow into Gasol’s chest, knocking the 7-footer back and incurring a flagrant foul. Davis and Fisher then confronted each other face-to-face, with Davis shouting and gesturing while Bryant got in between. Davis then shoved his way free of Bryant and continued yelling at Fisher while being led away...Eric Gordon and Craig Smith scored 17 points apiece for the Clippers, who got the defending champions’ attention last week with a 102-91 victory. Andrew Bynum had 20 points and seven rebounds as the Lakers took control of the rematch with an impressive third quarter, scoring 12 straight points early and expanding a three-point halftime lead to 24 with a 33-11 run before coasting to a season-best 73-point half...The Clippers lost their third straight without leading scorer Chris Kaman, who has a sore lower back—but at least Davis, who had 14 points and seven assists, put up a fight.

vs(From the Associated Press) - After scoring an NBA-season high 55 points against the Warriors earlier this season, Milwaukee rookie Brandon Jennings heard a few negative comments about his game from some of Golden State’s players. Jennings used the criticism to his advantage. Milwaukee’s young guard broke out of a weeklong shooting slump and scored 25 points, including a pivotal 3-pointer with 18.9 seconds left, and the Bucks held on to beat the Warriors 113-104 on Friday night...Ellis had 33 points and eight assists and Corey Maggette added 32 points and nine rebounds for Golden State (11-27), which lost its third straight...“I thought we did the best job we could,” Nelson said. “I have no complaints from the effort the guys have. It was hard for them to finish with not that much in the tank.”...Andrew Bogut had 15 points and 16 rebounds, Ridnour added 15 points and eight rebounds off the bench, and Hakim Warrick scored 15 for the Bucks (16-21).

vs(By ANNE M. PETERSON From the Associated Press) - Howard had an off night and Portland—playing without injured guard Brandon Roy—capitalized for a 102-87 victory on Friday night. It was Orlando’s sixth loss in its past eight games...Howard was doubled-teamed for most of the night and made just four of seven attempts from the field, finishing with 11 points and 11 rebounds, and Orlando dropped a half-game back of Atlanta in the Southeast Division. Martell Webster led the Blazers with 24 points and nine rebounds, and LaMarcus Aldridge added 14 points and 14 rebounds. Portland led by as many as 23 points...Roy, Portland’s two-time All-Star, was hurt during the third quarter of the Blazers’ 120-108 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday night...Blake had 18 points and six assists, while Miller finished with 19 points and nine assists...Carter was averaging 17.4 points, scoring in double figures in 26 of his 32 games before Friday night. Against the Blazers he had five points and left the locker room quickly after the game.
