(From the Associated Press) - All five Miami Heat players were watching Vince Carter, and as he dribbled toward the lane no one was within 15 feet of Rashard Lewis. Big mistake. And the Orlando Magic’s postseason push kept rolling along. Lewis took the pass in his favorite spot near the left corner, then made the clinching 3-pointer with 28.4 seconds left as the Magic recovered from wasting a 12-point lead in the final 4:45 of regulation and beat the Heat 108-102 in overtime Thursday night...Carter finished with 27 points, Lewis scored 24 and Jameer Nelson added 15 for the Magic, including a jumper with 15.3 seconds left in regulation that sent the teams into overtime tied at 93. “We got stops when we needed them,” Nelson said. “We made big plays offensively when we needed them. We played with a lot of poise and composure.” Dwyane Wade had 36 points and 10 rebounds for Miami, which led 100-99 with 3:09 left in overtime, then went scoreless for nearly 2 1/2 minutes. Jermaine O’Neal scored 14 and Carlos Arroyo added 11 for the Heat. “We threw every punch we had at them,” Wade said. “They came back and countered it.”...“We had it going for a little bit,” said Michael Beasley, who made the free throws that gave Miami its last lead. “We had the momentum. They’re a good team. They knocked down shots.” Miami remained in the No. 7 spot in the Eastern Conference playoff race, just a half-game ahead of No. 8 Toronto and a full game behind No. 6 Charlotte, both of whom return to action Friday.

(From the Associated Press) - Carmelo Anthony figured that with Kenyon Martin out and Chris Andersen coming back from two sprained ankles, Nene would have his hands full with Emeka Okafor. So, who was left to clean up the glass? ‘Melo. Anthony pulled down a career-best 18 rebounds to go with his 26 points in Denver’s 93-80 win over the New Orleans Hornets on Thursday night. “I was going for 20. That was my goal, to get 20 rebounds tonight. I knew we were going to need it,” Anthony said. “I knew Nene was going to have his hands full with Okafor, and our other bigs … would have their hands full with David West. So, it was a great opportunity for me to go down there and grab some boards.”...Coach George Karl missed his sixth game—but his first at home—since beginning radiation and chemotherapy treatment for throat cancer a month ago. The Nuggets, who have won eight of nine, have gone 5-1 under Dantley, who constantly reminds his players what Karl wants them to be doing. And one of the things Karl wanted was for Anthony to crash the boards...Andersen added 13 rebounds as the Nuggets beat New Orleans for the second time in six nights and moved a half-game ahead of Dallas for sole possession of second place in the Western Conference, 3 1/2 games behind the Los Angeles Lakers. Smith scored 13 of his 17 points in the second quarter to help the Nuggets take control with a 62-37 lead at the half. Nene added 20 points for the Nuggets, who improved to 14-1 at home when facing a team playing the second of back-to-back games. Collison and Marcus Thornton each scored 15 points to lead the Hornets.
